Phuket Thai Hua Museum

From Phuket's oldest Chinese language school to a museum, Hokkien descendants, who once studied at the school, have collaborated to create a museum that chronicles Phuket's history from the past to the present.

From an old Chinese language school in Phuket to a museum built through the collective efforts of the descendants of Hokkien Chinese—many of whom once studied at this very school—the space was created to preserve and present the history of Phuket from past to present. It also serves as a memorial to honor the virtues and contributions of ancestors who left behind a valuable legacy for future generations. The Phuket Thaihua Museum building features Sino-European architecture, originally constructed in 1934 (B.E. 2477), and has been meticulously restored to a beautiful, refined condition.

It now serves as a community learning center, showcasing the history of the Hokkien Chinese who migrated to Phuket, their beliefs, way of life, traditions, arts and culture, and the relationship between the Chinese and the local Phuket people. It also highlights the history of the Thaihua Chinese language school, which provided education for over 60 years. These exhibits are made engaging and accessible through the use of modern multimedia, making them fun and easy to understand for visitors of all ages. Additionally, the museum is a venue for various cultural and artistic events, such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Phuket Baba Wedding Ceremony."
