Covid-19 outbreak in Phuket elderly home

There’s been a Covid-19 outbreak in a Phuket elderly home, with a total of 45 people testing positive for the virus so far. Forty-two elderly residents and three guests have been infected, according to the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office Chief Dr Kusak Kukiattikoon. Dr Kusak said the office was informed of the outbreak on July 27. The Phuket Elder Care Development Center, located in Pa Khlok town, houses 75 elders and 29 staff altogether. As night venues reopen, Phuket officials on their toes

As Thailand’s bars and nightclubs reopen (until midnight), Phuket officials are still on their toes about Covid-19. This week, Phuket officials inspected night venues in the island province’s main city district. Vice Governor Pichet Panaphong, along with Phuket City Police and others officials, went to venues around the Nimit Circle (well known as Seahorse Circle), to probe whether venues were following public health requirements. Phuket authorities close Covid-19 field hospital

In a grand ceremony yesterday, Phuket authorities closed up a field hospital set up for people who tested positive for Covid-19. The field hospital was at Phuket Rajabhat University in the island province’s main city district. The deputy director of the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office, Padungkiat Utokasenee, led the closing ceremony. Between August 2021 and March 2022, the field hospital had treated a total of 3,195 Covid-19 patients who had minor symptoms, according to Padungkiat. On May 14 and 29, children can get Pfizer vaccines at Phuket airport

Phuket International Airport will have walk-in Pfizer vaccinations for children 5-11 years old on May 14 and 29. Parents can bring their children to get vaccinated at Terminal X from 9am to noon on both dates. Thailand to scrap pre-arrival Covid-19 tests from April

The CCSA has announced that starting April 1, travellers arriving in Thailand from abroad won’t have to take pre-arrival Covid-19 tests (before they travel to Thailand). The scrapping of pre-arrival tests will also apply to Hat Yai airport, in addition to the current Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Phuket, Krabi, Samui, Chiang Mai and U-tapao airports. Phuket wants to be first province to declare Covid-19 endemic

Phuket officials want to declare Covid-19 endemic, even as the infection rate is rising on the southern island. According to a Bangkok Post report, deputy governor Pichet Panapong says achieving endemic status would allow officials to focus on economic recovery.
